Fun In the Sun – A Very Unique List of Experiences in Los Angeles

Golden Road Aquatics – Founded by Meg Gill and USA National Swim Team coach Mike Lucero, this swim club offers workouts, personalized coaching, and yoga classes for members across all swim levels. Sunset Beach Kayaking Group – Founded by the owner of OEX Sunset Beach, this club was created to provide a safe, relaxing way to introduce kayaking to all ages. Tropical Orchard Punch

Ingredients (Punch Recipe serves 8-10):

  • 3 bottles Angry Orchard Crisp Apple
  • 1 cup White Rum
  • 0.5 cup Peach Nectar
  • 1.5 cups Passion Fruit Juice
  • 0.5 cup Lime Juice
  • 0.5 cup Vanilla Syrup
  • 10 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters

Method: Add all ingredients to a punch bowl with ice and stir to combine. Garnish with peach and apple slices.

Watermelon Julep

Ingredients

  • 2 oz HI-CHEW Watermelon infused bourbon**
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1⁄4 cup fresh mint leaves

Method: In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the sugar and mint to release the oils in the mint leaves. Pour in the bourbon, shake with ice, and strain over pebble ice in a julep cup. Garnish with a large bouquet of fresh mint and serve with a metal julep straw. **INFUSIONS: The infusion ratio is one piece of candy per ounce of liquor. Cut the candy into pieces and soak until dissolved.

Memorial Day Weekend May 25 – 27, 2019
Three-Day Tribute Event Honoring Those Who Have Served

WHAT:
The Queen Mary’s Salute to Service presents a three-day tribute event held over Memorial Day Weekend, honoring and remembering those who have served, and paying homage to the legendary Queen Mary’s duty as a troopship during WWII. The family-friendly activities offered aboard the ship will include historical reenactments and demonstrations, appearances by beloved historical figures, and special lectures.


MEMORIAL DAY ACTIVITIES:
Wartime Reenactments and Demonstrations: Each day from 12 pm to 8 pm, WWII troops, nurses, and Allied leaders will give guests a glimpse into the incredible true story of how the ship guided the Allied Forces to Victory in WWII.
Presentations and Lectures in the Queen’s Salon:
All Day: “War Rooms at Sea” exhibit
All Day: In-between lectures, check out “Queen Mary Voices,” a series of short films featuring oral histories and stories from our original crew members and passengers aboard the Queen Mary. (48 min.)
11am – 12pm: “Queen Mary and the War” with Commodore Everette
1pm – 2pm: “Victory through Strength and Unity: A Women’s tale” with Captain James
3pm – 3:30pm: “War Bride” film viewing, featuring June Allen (War Bride on the Queen Mary’s first “bride and baby voyage” in 1946)
Around the Ship:
12pm – 1pm: Captain’s Meet and Greet at the Bridge (open to all guests)
5pm – 6pm: Captain’s Reception for Hotel Guests – Observation Bar
6pm – 6:30pm: Commodore and Churchill to tour Sir Winston’s

*This tour is specific to the role of the ship’s officers and the crew of the ship. This will be a first come, first serve tour option. (No additional cost, limited availability).

ANAHEIM JAPAN FAIR 2019

Come to the Center Street Promenade in Downtown Anaheim to experience the first ever Anaheim Japan Fair! Bringing performers from Anaheim, Southern California, and Japan as well as Japanese cuisine, art, and the special traditions of Japanese culture to the City of Anaheim, the Anaheim Japan Fair will be a great experience for the whole family. Enjoy the opportunity to taste various Japanese cuisine from 25 food vendors including beer and sake brands, experience Japanese calligraphy to pop culture and entertainment, and be able to buy Japanese merchandise in one location.
